Welcome to a new season of growth for Camp Bethel!
As we continue in the "reboot" of this respected, loved ministry, it's time to update, repair and renew the buildings and property. We're calling this effort "Roofs & Roads," and it's our goal to make the buildings more comfortable (and usable!) and the grounds more accessible, year-round!

Moving into the next season of Camp Bethel’s ministry, it is our prayerful plan to:
- Become the beloved “home away from home” retreat & camp destination for Southwest Virginia and beyond.
- Continue to become a place that connects generations in Christ.
- Increasingly offer year-round ministries and ministry accommodations for youth, women, couples, young adults, and families
- Bless the local community with outreach events
- Be a treasured resource for the local church
- Partner with over 20 churches to adopt cabins as we become host to their baptisms, banquets, picnics, retreats, missionaries and church staff and volunteers
- Increase and improve lodging to better accommodate guests during colder months
- Create a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment that feels like home
THE PROBLEM
Here are the “big barriers”:
- Years of inactivity, inclement weather, normal wear and tear, and focus directed elsewhere has led to roads that are difficult to traverse for daily and seasonal visitors.
- Many of the gravel parking areas have been worn and even with volunteer help and initial investment, need to be replenished.
- Beautiful, historically valuable cabins and more recently built lodging is in need of updated roofing and exterior improvement to protect from weather and mountain wildlife.
THE PLAN
Here is how we hope to accomplish the prayer-driven goals we have set out:
- Needed maintenance on existing paved roadways (with volunteer labor, we hope to save money and still do the job with excellence!) in the next year
- Replacing roofs with more economical, longer-lasting metal roofing on multiple cabins in the next two years
THE WHY
Here are the important results we hope to achieve when these goals are met:
- Easier driving into and through camp for day visitors and seasonal campers and retreat guests
- Cabins that become a warm, comfortable place to begin and end the day with devotional time and good rest
